VMware Explore 2023 Las Vegas – Day 0 – Traveling to Vegas

As I mentioned in one of my previous posts, I was happy to receive a Blogger Pass for VMware Explore 2023 Las Vegas. After many months of waiting, it was finally time to travel to Las Vegas. In this article I would like to show you how my trip looked like.

Starting in Warsaw

My journey started early in the morning in Warsaw. I chose the Lufthansa airline, two transfers, one in Munich and one in Denver – a total of 3 flights in 18 hours. It was my longest trip so far and my first to the US. Unfortunately, just before VMware Explore 2023 Las Vegas, Hurricane Hilary made landfall in US California, causing torrential rain and strong winds in Vegas. Some flights were canceled, some delayed, luckily mine wasn’t.

Transfer in Denver

The first transfer in Munich was nothing special, it was enough to get off the plane and go to the next gate. However, transferring from an international to a domestic flight in the US is more complicated. Normally, you do not need to collect checked baggage during the transfer. But when you have a layover in the US, the first thing you need to do is go to Customs and Border Protection. After checking your passport, you must collect your checked baggage and check it in again for your domestic flight. Fortunately, rechecking is much faster, just put the bag in the right place or person. Next is the security check. Finally, you can head to the gate for your next flight. I only had a 1 hour and 20 minute layover in Denver and my flight to Denver was a bit late. Fortunately, everything went smoothly and I made it to the plane to Vegas.

Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas

Finally, after about 18 hours of travel, I’m in Las Vegas! Tired but ready to explore! It’s great to be here!
